2025 SleuthCPS Training & Challenge Workshop
SleuthCPS is proud to host the Industrial Control System Forensics Workshop (IFW 2025), open to all college and university students across Virginia. Participants will receive four days of expert-led ICS forensics training (online), covering core concepts and practical techniques for analyzing cyber-physical threats to Industrial Control Systems. The training will be followed by a week-long Capture-the-Flag-style digital challenge, during which participants will apply their skills to solve realistic forensic scenarios based on cyber-physical system threats.
Each day will feature a blend of expert-led instruction and practical lab exercises, covering everything from the fundamentals of PLC programming and proprietary protocols like UMAS to advanced network and memory forensics techniques. The week culminates in the final capstone challenge, where participants will apply their newly acquired skills to a realistic incident response scenario: investigating a cyber-attack on a fictional building's elevator system. Investigators will be tasked with analyzing a complex set of digital artifacts to uncover the truth behind the system's malfunction and identify the attackers.
